The Jefferson Historical Society of Louisiana was founded in 1977 to foster the history of the people, places, and events that are the history of Jefferson Parish.  There are no requirements for membership, other than timely payment of annual membership dues.  Membership categories are Individual, $15; Family (2 or more persons at the same address), $20; Contributing, $30; Institution, $30; Organization, $30; Sustaining, $100; Life, $250 (per individual).  Annual events include the Founders' Day Banquet (February), Thomas Jefferson Wreath Ceremony (April), and Camp Parapet Day (October or November). General membership meetings are held in January, May, August, and October.  All functions are free and open to members and their guests, but the Founders' Day Banquet admission is by paid R.S.V.P., with invitations mailed to all Society members.  The bi-monthly JHS Newsletter is distributed, and irregularly published issues of the Jefferson History Notebook are available free to the membership.
