Thomas Jefferson Research Fellowship Program

The Jefferson Historical Society of Louisiana announces the creation of the Thomas Jefferson Research Fellowship for research on the history of Jefferson Parish, Louisiana.  University and college students enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution are eligible to make application for the fellowship.  A maximum of two fellowships per calendar year will be awarded by the Jefferson Parish Historical Society.  Stipends up to $1,500 will be awarded for each fellowship.  Final research reports longer than 100 pages will earn a bonus stipend of $500.

Individuals interested in making application for a Thomas Jefferson Research Fellowship must submit a description of a proposed project which will require extensive use of primary source materials.  Applications and guidelines may be obtained from the Jefferson Historical Society of Louisiana, 4014 Connecticut Ave, Kenner, LA 70065, or downloaded here.

Educational Mini-Grant Program

The purpose of the Jefferson Historical Society’s Educational Mini-Grant Program is to promote the study of the history of Jefferson Parish among its school-age residents.  The program is designed to provide mini-grants in amounts ranging from $50 to $500 to public, parochial, and private school teachers planning projects concerning the history of Jefferson Parish.

Any individual employed full time as a teacher in a public, parochial, or private school who is planning a classroom activity relating to the history of Jefferson Parish may apply.
