Pioneer Settler Certificate Program

In early 2006, the Jefferson Parish Historical Commission inaugurated a certificate program to honor those who settled Jefferson Parish.  There are five categories of pioneer settlers, who are recognized through their direct descendants.

The categories are:

Centennial Settlers – residing in Jefferson Parish at least 100 years ago, but less than 125 years ago (1885 -1909)

Quasquicentennial Settlers, in Jefferson 125–149 years ago  (between 1860 -1884)

Sesquicentennial Settlers, in Jefferson 150–174 years ago  (between 1835 – 1859)

Terquasquicentennial Settlers, in Jefferson 175–184 years ago (between 1825 – 1834)

Jefferson Parish Colonials – persons residing in the area 185 or more years ago or before Jefferson Parish was established on February 11, 1825.
