Pioneer Settler Certificate Program

In early 2006, the Jefferson Parish Historical Commission inaugurated a certificate program to honor those who settled Jefferson Parish.  There are five categories of pioneer settlers, who are recognized through their direct descendants. The ancestor(s) residency in Jefferson Parish need not be continuous.

The categories are:

Centennial Settlers – residing in Jefferson Parish anytime at least 100 years ago, but less than 125 years ago;

Quasquicentennial Settlers, in Jefferson anytime 125–149 years ago;

Sesquicentennial Settlers, in Jefferson anytime 150–174 years ago;

Terquasquicentennial Settlers, in Jefferson anytime 175 years ago to February 11, 1825; and

Jefferson Parish Colonials – persons residing in the area before February 11, 1825, when Jefferson Parish was established.

To apply for a certificate, download and complete the application here.  To download the form, you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader, which you may download for free here.
