2005 Founders' Day Banquet The Jefferson Historical Society of Louisiana, in cooperation with the Jefferson Parish Historical Commission, held its Annual Founders' Day Banquet on Saturday, February 12, 2005, at Colonial Country Club in Harahan. This year’s special guest speaker was historian Betsy Swanson. Swanson is the author of Historic Jefferson Parish: From Shore to Shore, which was published in hard cover in 1975. It was reprinted in soft cover last year. Copies of the reprinted book were available for purchase at the banquet, and Swanson was on hand to sign those and previously purchased copies of the book. In her remarks, Swanson addressed the numerous subjects from the book which have since been lost either to coastal erosion or deterioration followed by destruction.
